Christina Dougherty LCSW
Insight. Compassion. Decades of Clinical Experience.
Christina has spent more than 30 years helping adults overcome emotional, psychological, and relationship challenges. Her career has included work in psychiatric hospitals, the Department of Veterans Affairs, intensive substance use and cooccurring disorders treatment, medical social work, child welfare, and the last 16 years in founding and directing individual and group private practices, giving her a broad understanding of many different populations and the various ways life experiences and trauma affect emotional and functional well-being.
She enjoys helping clients who have had difficulty with unhelpful emotional and behavioral patterns in reaction to life and relationships. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, Christina helps clients understand the deeper patterns that influence how they think, feel, relate to others, and make decisions. Her approach integrates psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, Jungian/depth, transpersonal, 12-step facilitation, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based approaches to help clients create lasting change rather than temporary symptom relief.
Clients often appreciate her thoughtful, warm and empathetic, but direct style in exploring difficult experiences while developing insightful ways for change.
